Sausage plait is one of the most favored of current trending foods in the world. It’s easy, it’s fast, it tastes delicious. It is appreciated by millions daily. Sausage plait is something which I have loved my entire life. They’re nice and they look wonderful.

Delicious sausages made with premium ingredients. Tuck the top and bottom edges of the pastry over the filling. Starting at the top, lay the pastry strips over the filling, taking one from each side, to cross like a plait. Now brush the top all over with the last of the egg.

To get started with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can have sausage plait using 5 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Sausage plait:
  1. Get 1 packet jus roll puff pastry
  2. Take 2 tbsp stuffing mix
  3. Get 250 g minced pork
  4. Prepare 2 tbsp apple sauce
  5. Prepare 1 egg

If you use really good quality sausages or sausage meat, you might find your sausage plait leaks a lot of fat as it's cooking. I've had this a couple of times as I use high % meat sausages with very little filler in. If you're using cheaper sausages you shouldn't find this an issue. Place on top of the mushroom paste and then spread the caramelized onions on.

Instructions to make Sausage plait:
  1. In a bowl add hot water to stuffing mix or crumble up a bit of stuffing leftover from a previous meal. When moist add the pork mince and use hands to mix together.
  2. On baking parchment lay out the pastry. Apply the meat mixture to the central third of the rectangle. Make a small indent down the centre of the meat to put a line of apple sauce in.
  3. Next snip the sides of the pastry into strips about 1.5cm in width. Fold the top and bottom pastry over on the narrow sides. Alternate laying the strips over the meat to create the plait effect.
  4. Brush the plait top with beaten egg and put into a 220°oven for approximately 20 mins.

If you're using cheaper sausages you shouldn't find this an issue. Place on top of the mushroom paste and then spread the caramelized onions on. Lightly brush the pastries with water and then plait/fold the strips alternately over one another to create sausage plaits. Serve hot or cold with seasonal salad. Top tip for making Sausage plaits Fold up the ends, and then plait alternate strips of the pastry to neatly cover the sausage filling.
